Beltline Bridge
2012, wood, 30'x12'x8' The Beltline Bridge, created with Georgia State University sculpture department, is a public art piece made from wood and exhibited from 2012 to 2013 on The Beltline Park, Atlanta, GA. It discusses the changing landscape of Atlanta. Views of the old Atlanta railroad tracks lead into a shack reminding the viewer of old train related buildings. Inside the structure the viewer’s perspective is distorted as the darkened interior creates the illusion of a long interior space when, in fact, it is not long from the outside. The space inside the structure is reduced in size causing the viewer to feel larger than the building as well. The view from the other side is reminiscent of the shotgun style homes and churches now reside in the once industrial area.

Ocean Waves in the Sky
2012, steel, aluminum, nylon, 16'x20'x20' Ocean Waves in the Sky is an unrealized public art concept. Juxtaposed in a desert environment, Ocean Waves in the Sky is a wind-activated, large scale kinetic sculpture that uses ocean imagery and sound. Windcatchers that resemble ocean waves are suspended on a rooftop to rotate and power the sound of ocean waves at ground level. Windcatchers move in circular patterns in response to wind. This creates the visual effect of undulating ocean waves. Attached to the windcatchers is a shaft that extends down the side of the building to turn an ocean wave sound machine for the viewer to hear. The presence of water imagery allows the viewer’s mind to be swept away to memories of time spent by water.
